Katha Pollitt and Andrew Sullivan
Entry 6:
Katha,
I was being a little flip, of course. I've badgered my mom for years to quit; and I don't want anyone to die of cancer. Still, I admire the ability of teenagers to flout their smothering elders. And did anyone tell the authorities about teen psychology? The most damaging image for the smoking industry would be to have Hillary Rodham Clinton enjoying a drag in the White House. Cool will out, I fear.
best
Andrew
