Arianna Huffington and Harry Shearer
Entry 17:
Gee, where does that leave the seven tobacco-company presidents who swore before Congress that their product isn't addictive? I know, ever since Ollie North, lying to Congress has been a mark of the true patriot, and some people do quit tobacco cold turkey. On the other hand, some people do quit heroin cold turkey. I'm just addressing the moral foundation of a business. Like the fine capitalists in the gun business. If they're true to their creed, they should be taking out ads suggesting that the reason kids keep getting killed in schools is because the victims didn't have guns with which to shoot back.
Arianna Huffington is a nationally syndicated columnist. Harry Shearer is host of radio's Le Show, a screenwriter, an actor, and provider of several voices on The Simpsons.
