Arianna Huffington and Harry Shearer
Entry 34:
While you're worrying about the Paks going boom, and reading the trades, I've been at the Playboy Mansion celebrating Karen McDougal, the 1998 Playmate of the Year. She received a check for $100,000 and the keys to a Shelby Series 1. "Can I fax you the tickets?" she quipped to Hugh Hefner. "In this car," he replied, "they won't catch you." Anyway, there's less bad acting among playmates than among TV newsies. Although, the best non-SAG actor remains the President himself. He increasingly reminds me of Harold Wilson rather than Tony Blair. I lived in England when he was Prime Minister and his greatest characteristic was an undeviating lack of candor. "A lot of politics is presentation," he said once, "and what isn't presentation is timing." The Clinton credo?
