Arianna Huffington and Harry Shearer

Entry 12:

On the plane from Cleveland to Houston, eating my wilted salad and dreaming of the last night's porcini mushrooms at Cucina, I stumbled on you being quoted telling Jeannie Williams at the Godzilla party in New York about the moment in the movie "when the lizard gets injured and you heard the sound of 6000 women going 'Ohhhhhhh!'" I was crushed. I didn't know you were sharing our Breakfast bon mots with another woman! Well, at least you said "Ohhhhhhh" to her and "Ahhhh" to me...

I was also catching up with the New York Times from the last couple of days. And there is a nice sidenote to the Suharto story. First, the Times ran this correction:

"An article on Tuesday about Indonesia's decision to raise prices for fuel and electricity referred incorrectly to the youngest son of President Suharto. His name is Hutomo Mandala Putra, not Tommy Suharto. (Tommy is his nickname.)"

Who would've guessed that was a nickname? And then yesterday, they ran a short item about Dewi Sukarno, the widow of the founding president of Indonesia, who put in a plug for a leading opposition figure, her daughter Megawati. What a great name. Megawati! She's got my vote.
