The models make predictions independently of current conditions; that's why when they match observations closely, it increases confidence in their output. He also initially wrote that the amount of heat transported to ocean depths wasn't well known. It is the rate of transport that's the issue.

In a Sept. 18 Bad Astronomy blog post, Phil Plait wrote that there have been two previous flights to the International Space Station by SpaceX. There have been three. Plait also listed the launch time of the Antares rocket as 11:16 EDT. It was 10:58 EDT.

In a Sept. 18 Eye blog post, Kristin Hohenadel described the vertical garden as being on a southwest street. The garden is on a southwest-facing street.

A Sept. 18 Future Tense blog post included an incorrect credit for an image. It was created by Victoria Veluz.

In a Sept. 18 Politics, David Weigel wrote that Aaron Alexis was prevented from buying an AR-15 because of a state law that prohibits the sale of such weapons to nonresidents. In fact, Virginia permits nonresidents to purchase AR-15s if they have sufficient documentation.

Due to a production error, a Sept. 17 Moment misstated the date of Masada. It was 73 C.E., not B.C.E.

In a Sept. 16 TV Club,  Emily Bazelon misstated the location where Breaking Bad is filmed. It's filmed in New Mexico, not Arizona.

In a Sept. 14 War Stories, Fred Kaplan wrote that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had denied possessing chemical weapons. In fact, he had refused to confirm or deny Syria had such weapons.

In a Sept. 13 Jurisprudence, Sara Rahman misidentified the judge who overturned Herman Wallace's conviction as Brian Jackson. The judge was James Brady. Also, due to a production error, the caption for the accompanying photo originally said Herman Wallace is still being held in the Louisiana State Penitentiary. He was moved to another prison in 2008.

In a Sept. 12 Bad Astronomy blog post, Phil Plait reported that video of a flooded creek he shot was northwest of Boulder, Colo. It was northeast of the city.

In a Sept. 12 Music Box, Carl Wilson mistakenly referred to Jim James of the band My Morning Jacket as Jim Jones.

In a Sept. 12 Outward blog post, June Thomas originally misspelled the forename of the late transgender rights activist Marsha P. Johnson.
