The second season of Orange Is the New Black, the hugely entertaining series about life in a minimum security women’s prison, is now available in its entirety on Netflix―so let’s get to talking about it.

We’re launching an exclusive Slate Plus podcast series on Season 2. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be talking with experts about various aspects of the series: Is Vee the ultimate capitalist? How omnipresent is “gay for the stay”? How underrepresented is drug addiction? Does Poussey have the last word on scissoring? What does Orange get right about racial dynamics in prison? What does it get wrong about prison guards?

I’m starting the series this week by getting together with NPR’s Adam Davidson, the co-founder and co-host of Planet Money. We’re talking about how prison economies really work, whether Vee is the ultimate capitalist, and if the Litchfield would really carry name-brand candy bars.

Join Slate Plus to hear all the episodes of our OITNB Season 2 podcast.
