Bridge of Spies Is the Best Picture of the Year

Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are two movie greats at the top of their game.

In our series “The Best Case for Best Picture,” Slate staffers and critics mount their strongest argument for the movie they think should win the Oscars’ biggest prize. It won’t be easy: They’ll also have to contend against the counterarguments of Slate culture editor Dan Kois.

This time, Slate film critic David Ehrlich tries to convince Kois that Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg do more than enough to elevate Bridge of Spies to Oscar-worthy status.
